GAMEFLOW SPORTS CONFERENCE TOURNEY PREDICTIONS
ACC Tournament
To start off in the first round, California is not the 15 seed that you want to see in your conference tournament. Despite their seeding, they are a capable team with offensive flashes - don't be shocked if they make some noise here. In this less than impressive season for the ACC, there is an obvious gap between the top teams and bottom teams in this conference. With that, Duke, Louisville and Clemson should have no problem advancing to the semifinals. #5 North Carolina vs #4 Wake Forest has the potential to be the best game of this tournament, especially with both teams' tournament hopes on the line - expect the veteran leadership of the Tar Heels backcourt to pull through. Despite Clemson's loss to Louisville earlier in the season, the Tigers have been unstoppable since then and have been the better team advancing them to the championship where Duke is simply on a tier of their own in the ACC.
Big East tournament
The first round should go as expected with the exception of the seeding upset of Butler over Providence. Top seeded St. John's will once again take care of the Bulldogs advancing to the semifinals. Creighton and UConn should not have any trouble punching their way into the semifinals as well with their experienced coaching staffs. Yet another #4 against #5 matchup will be the best of the tournament. The Musketeers of Xavier are in a do or die situation but the talent of Marquette's backcourt will be too much for them. St. John's will maintain their dominance and take care of Marquette and UConn each once more.
Big ten tournament
Maybe the most anticipated conference tournament this week - expect it to be messy. Beginning with the first round, Northwestern is simply a better team than Minnesota and will advance. #11 Rutgers, led by two future NBA Lottery Picks in Ace Bailey and Dylan Harper, is without a doubt too skilled to be first round exits. As for the noisemakers in this tournament, if this is the end for Fran McCaffery as Iowa's head coach, don't expect him to go down without a fight. Additionally, Ohio State enters the tournament losing five of their last eight regular season games. Despite their loss in the regular season to Illinois, the Hawkeyes have what it takes to take down the freakishly inconsistent Illini. Unfortunately, the Hawkeyes run will come to an end when they battle a very good Maryland team. Heading back to the second round, expect much of the same of Oregon's win over Indiana from last week this time around. #6 Purdue should pretty easily end Rutgers disappointing season led by All-American point guard Braden Smith. The semifinals show potentially the best four teams in the Big Ten and from here on out the better team takes home the win. It's pretty unarguable that the Michigan State Spartans have been the best team in this conference all year round and have shown no signs of slowing down.
BIG 12 TOURNAMENT
Let's start off with a classic March themed upset with #16 Colorado taking down #9 TCU. Since the firing of Utah's Craig Smith. the Utes haven't been able to get rolling and UCF will end their season. West Virginia's second round game could quite possibly be the most slow paced game of tournament week, but nonetheless they will move their way onto the quarterfinals. #6 Kansas was able to knock off #3 Arizona just last week, but this time the Wildcats will get their get back and advance to the semifinals. Anticipate a good game between #7 Baylor and #2 Texas Tech, but Baylor's a team that's been plagued by inconsistency and lack of heart all season long. #4 versus #5 being the matchup of the tournament seems to be a common theme here, #4 BYU has been more and more impressive as the season goes on but this Iowa State team is finally starting to get healthy and they will be the team to beat - in the semifinals Iowa State will get their long overdue back to back statement wins over top seeded Houston. Coming back to the Red Raiders of Texas Tech led by forward JT Toppin, this offense is the most eye popping in the Big 12 and the lack of recognition they receive in this loaded conference will only put a chip on their shoulder.
SEC TOURNAMENT
The SEC Tournament is without a doubt the most unpredictable - outside of LSU and South Carolina, we could see any game in this tournament go either way. First off, Georgia will pick up right where they left off in the regular season and take down #14 Oklahoma and #6 Kentucky in back to back days - two teams they have already knocked off this year. Expect the rest of the second round to go as based on seeding with the better team winning each matchup. #1 Auburn should breeze past #8 Ole Miss with #2 Florida and #3 Alabama also pushing their way through the quarterfinals and into the semifinals. What next? You guessed it, #4 Tennessee and #5 Texas A&M - the long awaited rematch from February 22nd's 77-69 down to the wire Volunteers victory. This time around, Texas A&M is seemingly the team to beat and with how well they've been playing in big games as of late, they will take care of Tennessee. Texas A&M will keep the ball rolling with a win against Auburn, a team they already beat back on March 4th. #2 Florida will give #3 Alabama too many problems with how deep their team is and will advance to the SEC Championship against #5 Texas A&M. The Aggies, led by Wade Taylor IV, will finally get his moment on the SEC's biggest stage and will not pass up on such a massive opportunity. The Aggies will do what they do best and put the pressure on this Florida offense.
MOUNTAIN WEST TOURNAMENT
Much like the ACC, there is a sizable cap between the teams that have a chance to win this thing and the teams that do not. The top five seeds in New Mexico, Colorado State, Utah State, San Diego State and Boise State are all fighting for spots in the NCAA Tournament. Three of these five teams should rather easily blow past their quarterfinal opponents. Once more, it's #4 San Diego State vs #5 Boise State. Boise State seemingly has their season on the line with this game but unfortunately San Diego State will just be too much for the Broncos. In the matchup between #2 Colorado State and #3 Utah State, Colorado State has been on a roll but the Aggies (besides New Mexico) have been the team to beat in the Mountain West all season long, expect no let up. #4 San Diego State will battle #3 Utah State in the Mountain West Championship. Fortunately for the Aztecs, defense wins championships and San Diego State without a doubt has the best defense in this conference and it will pay off en route the the Mountain West title
ATLANTIC 10 TOURNAMENT
A late night executive decision resulted in the addition of the Atlantic 10 Tournament prediction. This tournament consists of some very exciting teams fighting for a spot in the NCAA Tournament to say the least. #15 Fordham will pull off the first round upset against a really disappointing Rhode Island team. Everything seems to go as expected until the semifinals with the exception of #7 George Washington knocking off the once first place George Mason Patriots. George Mason has seen their season seemingly fall apart over the past two weeks and it just does not seem like they have the steam to make a run here. #1 VCU vs #3 Dayton will once more be playing for the right to enter the NCAA Tournament. VCU is the best team in this conference, but when you take a look at Dayton and put their preseason expectations into reality, you realize how much they have to play for. Dayton has been a clutch team in March and will continue to be clutch in this tournament as they will punch their ticket to the big dance for the second consecutive season.
